TEHRAN -- The screenplay written in verse by the recently-deceased satirist Manuchehr Ehterami is soon to be made into an animation.
The screenplay is to be produced by director Ahmad Arbani, Ehterami had told the Persian service of ISNA sometime before his death. The story is somewhat similar to the series “Hassani” and is written for children, he had said, adding, “Of course, adults can also watch it secretly!”
Ehterami had also talked about another screenplay for children he was planning to write as well.
The creator of “Hassani” series, Ehterami died of heart attack last week. He was 67.
Ehterami was born on July 6, 1941 in Tehran. He studied at Marvi School and was a graduate of law from the University of Tehran. His articles were published in several magazines and, over the past few years, he published most of his works in “Gol-Aqa”.
He began writing when he was only 17, working with the late satirist Omran Salahi in Tofiq Magazine. He also was collaborating with national radio and TV programs.
He had undertaken a great deal of work in the field of children’s literature and satire and had written about 50 books for children and young adults, but the series “Hassani” is the most famous and best-selling one.
“I have always liked to decrease my ignorance and I have always been sorry that we don’t have a life as long as Noah in which to read and learn,” Ehterami had once said in the ceremony held in his honor at the Iranian Artists Forum last year.
